Hip-hop is moving as quickly as ever. Luckily, we’re doing the work to compile the best singles of the past week and highlight them in one space for you. This week had a range of releases, most notably Lil Yachty and Kyle going back to the feel-good well of “iSpy” on “Hey Julie,” and both rap icons Ghostface Killah and Inspectah Deck as well as Rich The Kid delivering singles to prep January albums. And in an all-too somber trend, there’s a posthumous track from Chinx.

Lil Yachty Feat. Kyle, “Hey Julie”

Two leading voices of Generation Z unite on “Hey Julie,” a catchy single that shows the two rekindling their “iSpy” sound at their best, delivering fun music that channels the (not-so) innocence of youth.

Rich The Kid, “Splashin”

Rich The Kid is at his best on “Splashin,” a braggadocious record where he spits over a thumping production about. The single is from his The World Is Yours 2 album, which is set to drop next month.

Domo Genesis Feat. Buddy, “Consecutive Normal Punches”

Along with anime, the unorthodox title of this West Coast collaboration could refer to the bars on bars both rhymers spit over the dreamy soundscape from Domo’s upcoming Facade Records EP. But then again, nothing is merely normal about bars like Buddy’s slick summation that he’s the “Best dressed n—a in the west / With a lot of trauma and a little finesse.”

Chief Keef, “Awesome”

Chief Keef delivered an affirmation if there ever was one with “Awesome,” a chaotic banger that’s light on lyrical fireworks but heavy on adlibs that bolster the intensity of the searing synths and rapid-fire drums. Also, it’s pretty awesome that he gave us a whole video in the back of an SUV.

Smokepurrp, “Sauce Like This”

Smokepurrp decided to drop off a much-anticipated, previously leaked track where he flouts his superiority, letting everyone know why he’s the man and offering a comically poor excuse for leaving school in 1:37.

Ghostface Killah & Czarface, “Iron Claw”

Czarface Meets Ghostface is on the way. Czarface is the combo of Ghost’s Wu brother Inspectah Deck, 7L & Esoteric. The long-awaited project will drop in February, but the quartet of underground stalwarts decided to give us a thrilling preview with “Iron Claw.”

Little Simz, “101 FM”

London’s Little Simz is a name to watch in 2019, and “101 FM” is a strong example why. The talented rhymer reflected on her UK come up on “101 FM.” Given that her AGE 101 label signed a global partnership deal with AWAL in September, the 24-year-old has come a long way.

Chinx Feat. Red Cafe, “Gettin Money”

It’s been 3 years since the death of Chinx, a promising Far Rockaway artist who was murdered. His killer has since been apprehended, which might give some semblance of solace to his loved ones. They may also get some Holiday warmth hearing him doing what he loved: rhyming about “Gettin’ Money” with Red Cafe over an exciting Jahlil Beats production.

Chelsea Reject, “Paradise”

Every artist wants, but is expression, appreciation, and connection with your fans. Talented Brooklyn rhymer Chelsea Reject had a rough Thursday, divulging that her ex deleted her Instagram in a jealous fit. But not one to be defeated, she dropped a self-produced track later that evening called “Paradise.” Enjoy the track, and be sure to show some love to her new Instagram @chelseareject47.
